GACL to Establish Gujarat Facility for Semiconductor-Grade Hydrogen Peroxide Production.

State-run Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) has approved plans to set up a 5,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) high-purity hydrogen peroxide plant at Dahej in South Gujarat, marking its entry into a niche segment catering to the semiconductor and solar manufacturing industries.

The company's board of directors, at a meeting held recently, cleared an investment of approximately ₹67 crore for the project. The facility will manufacture electronic-grade hydrogen peroxide, a critical chemical used in advanced semiconductor fabrication and other high-technology electronics production processes.

The proposed plant is expected to address growing domestic demand from semiconductor fabrication facilities and solar cell manufacturers as India accelerates efforts to strengthen its electronics manufacturing and clean energy ecosystems.

In a regulatory filing, GACL said the project would enable the company to produce high-purity hydrogen peroxide for specialized applications in semiconductor fabrication, solar cell manufacturing and other advanced electronics sectors. The company noted that the investment aligns with the increasing number of such manufacturing units being established across the country.

The Dahej facility is expected to support India's broader push towards self-reliance in critical materials required for high-tech manufacturing while expanding GACL's presence in value-added specialty chemicals.
