GAIL India receives green nod for Raigarh plant.

GAIL India has received environmental clearance for its gas-based power plant at Usar in Raigarh district of Maharashtra.

The State Level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority of Maharashtra has given the green nod for setting up a 220 MW power plant, which entails an investment of Rs. 1,028 crore. The company intends to use one million standard cu mtr per day of natural gas to generate 220 MW of electricity at the proposed combined cycle power plant. The power generated from the plant will be sold to Maharashtra.

GAIL has appointed Tractebel Engineering as consultants for preparation of Detail Feasibility Report (DFR) for the proposed project.

The required fuel for the project is proposed to be supplied by GAIL pipeline network. A new pipeline of about 400 mtr is to be laid to connect the power plant.
