Bhogapuram International Airport May Be Inaugurated by PM Modi in July’s Third Week.

The Bhogapuram International Airport in Andhra Pradesh, being developed by the GMR Group near Visakhapatnam, is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the event likely scheduled for the third week of July.

According to a senior official, the Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate the state’s first greenfield airport during the week. A few tentative dates have been proposed to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for the inauguration, sources said.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway to finalise operational arrangements for the airport, including passenger services and regulatory requirements ahead of its launch.

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has recently approved the User Development Fee (UDF) structure for passengers using the airport. Under the approved charges, departing domestic passengers will pay a UDF of ₹835, while arriving domestic passengers will be charged ₹355.

For international travellers, the UDF has been set at ₹1,255 for departing passengers and ₹545 for arriving passengers.

The Bhogapuram International Airport is expected to boost air connectivity in the region and support economic growth in northern Andhra Pradesh once it becomes operational.
