GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company, is set to significantly increase its workforce in India, where nearly 45% of its global team is based. With 15,000 employees currently in the country, the company plans to bolster its presence in tier II and tier III cities, starting with Nagpur, where it will add over 400 employees in the next three months.
The company operates offices in ten Indian cities, including Noida, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Mahabubnagar (a tier III city), and Kochi, the latter through its acquisition of Katzion.
Piyush Jha, MD and CEO - India & APAC, GlobalLogic, explained, “We are focusing on major talent expansions and will continue our hub-and-spoke strategy. We will host our programs in tier I cities and make significant investments in tier II cities to provide growth opportunities for talent there.”
Globally, GlobalLogic employs over 30,000 people. The company has also partnered with seven technology universities and colleges in India through an industry academy program, where students are trained in company-recommended courses and later hired through campus placements. This year, the company plans to introduce GenAI modules into these colleges to prepare students for future roles.
Jha highlighted that GlobalLogic has been engaged with AI technologies for a decade and has been working on Generative AI (GenAI) for nearly three years. “Currently, we have around 65 GenAI projects in India, with a larger global footprint. About 90% of our engineers are proficient in GenAI, which enhances our ability to collaborate with clients on their GenAI initiatives,” he said. The company anticipates integrating GenAI into almost all customer projects within the next year.
India contributes 30% to GlobalLogic’s global business, with a growth rate of 30-35%. The company aims to reach $1 billion in revenue in India and APAC by 2027. Recently, GlobalLogic acquired Katzion, an engineering firm in Sydney, and Mobiveil, which offers semiconductor engineering services and application platforms with operations in the US and India.
Jha explained that the acquisition of Mobiveil was aimed at strengthening their embedded and VLSI capabilities in the APAC region, while Katzion added significant presence in Kochi. GlobalLogic’s focus in India remains on end-to-end digital transformation across various sectors, including edtech, media, high tech, healthcare, and retail, with clients such as McDonald’s, Kohl’s, Qualcomm, The Economist, and Nokia.
