GMR, GVK projects set to get land in TN.

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco), the government agency working on identifying and promoting establishment of large and medium scale industries in the state, is in the process of procuring and alloting land for two major special economic zone projects - one by GMR Infrastructure Ltd. and another by the GVK Group.

Krishnagiri SEZ project

A multi-product SEZ of about 2,800 acres in Krishnagiri district was proposed by Tidco and GMR Infrastructure Ltd. (GMR) through the JV company - GMR Krishnagiri SEZ Ltd. - with an estimated investment of about Rs. 2,300 crore.

About 1,300 acres of patta lands were procured in the name of the JV company on their own for implementing the project. The JV has requested for transfer of about 600 acres of government land in its favour through Tidco to make the proposed project area contiguous. Action to transfer the government lands in favour of Tidco to lease these lands to the JV company, has been initiated, the industries department said.
