"Goa CM Unveils GURU Plan to Propel Innovation in Biotech and Tech Sectors"
On Wednesday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant officially inaugurated the Goa University Research Park Unit (GURU) under the UniGoa Knowledge and Innovation Foundation. During the event, he also distributed sanction letters to teams selected under the Hand Holding and Start-Up Scheme 2023-24.
In a post on social media platform X, Sawant highlighted that the GURU initiative involves an investment of ₹12.85 crore. This funding will be used to set up cutting-edge facilities and acquire advanced equipment to support emerging innovators.
Sawant described the GURU initiative as a milestone in advancing Goa's capabilities in biotechnology, healthcare, information technology, and electronics. He emphasized that it represents a significant step toward providing knowledge and mentorship for local talent.
"I am pleased to inaugurate the Goa University Research Park Unit—GURU (UniGoa Knowledge and Innovation Foundation) and to distribute the sanction letters to the teams under the Hand Holding & Start-Up Scheme 2023-24," Sawant said. "This initiative, with its ₹12.85 crore investment, will support young innovators with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. It symbolizes our commitment to advancing biotechnology, healthcare, IT, and electronics innovation in Goa."
The Chief Minister expressed his belief that GURU will be crucial in nurturing young talent and supporting start-ups in fields such as bio-engineering, agriculture, healthcare, and electronics. He extended his congratulations to Goa University and the Directorate of Higher Education for their efforts and wished the initiative a successful future.
"I am confident that GURU will be pivotal in fostering innovation and incubation for start-ups, making a substantial impact on society.
