Government to Modernise Semi-Conductor Laboratory in Mohali With ₹4,500 Crore Investment: Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The government plans to invest ₹4,500 crore over the next three years to modernise the state-owned Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said recently.

SCL, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is India’s only integrated device manufacturing facility providing end-to-end solutions for the development of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), opto-electronics devices, and Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) devices.

The minister added that the Centre has requested the Punjab government to provide a 25-acre land parcel to support the facility’s expansion.
