Govt gives top priority to Baltistan hydro projects
Skardu: The government is giving top priority towards the hydel power generation to meet the electricity requirements particularly in Northern Areas. This was stated by Advisor Public Works Department Northern Areas Haji Mohammad Ibrahim Sanai.
He said that a huge amount would be spent during the current financial year on hydel power projects in Northern Areas and work on new big power houses would also be started. Most of the under construction power projects would be completed during the financial year.
Haji Mohammad Ibrahim said that a two mw power house at a cost of Rs 200 million is being constructed at Thally in Ghangche district while another same project would be started in Kundus valley and a 0.7 mw hydel power house in Hassanabad Chorbat at a cost of Rs 8.54 million would also be initiated.
He said that feasibility study would be started to construct 20 mw hydel power house in Gwari distt Ghangche and 10 mw power house in Tornik, Skardu district.
