Govt targets additional 10,000 MW in 11th Plan

New Delhi: The Government is targeting additional power generation capacity of 10,000 MW from renewable sources in the 11th Five-Year Plan.

``Our 11th Plan target is to add 10,000 MW of installed capacity. In the first year, we plan to add around 1,800-2,000 MW, majority of which would be through wind energy,'' said Mr V. Subramanian, Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

While speaking at a conference organised by industry chamber Assocham Assocahm, he said the industry should not wait for Government incentives. The Ambassador of Bhutan, Mr Lyonpo Dago Tshering, called for bilateral cooperation between India and his country particularly in the area of harnessing sources of non-conventional energy as also work out solutions for emerging issue of global warming and climate change
