The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is preparing to develop a 15-year master plan and detailed project report (DPR) to improve the city's water, sewer, and stormwater drainage systems. A consultant will be hired to assess the existing infrastructure, forecast future needs, and align the plan with GNIDA's master plans for 2021 and 2041. The aim is to upgrade and modernise Greater Noida's utility systems to meet the increasing demand across residential, industrial, and commercial sectors.
The project will focus on modernising water supply, sewerage, and drainage systems, with key initiatives such as 24/7 water supply, water auditing, GIS mapping, and enhanced operation and management systems. GNIDA has issued a tender to hire consultancy firms with expertise in large-scale urban infrastructure projects, following a quality-cost based selection (QCBS) model, with 70% weightage on technical expertise and 30% on financial proposals. A pre-bid conference will be held on November 14, with bid submissions due by November 28, and technical bids will be opened on December 2.
"This master plan and DPR will lay the foundation for a sustainable and resilient infrastructure system that will serve Greater Noida through 2041 and beyond," said a GNIDA official.
The consultant will begin by assessing the city's current water sources, storage facilities, and distribution networks, with a focus on verifying data and identifying gaps. They will also evaluate the Ganga water treatment plant, review disinfection methods, and forecast future water demand. The work will be carried out in two phases: Stage I will involve a thorough analysis of existing infrastructure and create a five-year action plan, while Stage II will provide detailed budget estimates and designs for phased implementation. The two stages will help ensure that Greater Noida’s infrastructure is capable of supporting its growing population and evolving needs.
