Gujarat-Tamil Nadu Partnership Aims to Strengthen Space Manufacturing Capabilities.

The Department of Space has approved the setting up of common technical facilities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing in the space sector, officials said on Friday.

The proposed facilities will feature high-end testing, validation, and integration infrastructure to support space system development, they added.

Pawan Kumar Goenka, Chairman of the space sector regulator IN-SPACe, said that realisation of space systems requires capital-intensive infrastructure and that the initiative marks a key step in building a robust, industry-led ecosystem in India’s space sector.

According to officials, IN-SPACe will be responsible for procuring, installing, and commissioning the technical infrastructure, operating the facilities for a defined period, and later transferring ownership to the respective state governments.

The initiative is expected to strengthen India’s domestic space manufacturing capabilities and support private sector participation in the sector.
