Haldia Petrochem invests Rs 7,400-mn in 627 units

Kolkata: A total of Rs 740 crore has so far been invested in 627 units in the downstream of Haldia Petrochemicals creating a direct employment of 68,000 people in West Bengal, according to Mr Dipak Chatterjee Sr. Manager (Business Development) of HPL.

He was addressing a seminar on opportunities for investment in chemical industry in the Eastern region organised by Indian Chemical Council.

Elaborating on future growth areas of plastics industry in the State, he said that West Bengal was lagging behind Maharashtra and Karnataka in using plastics for better productivity in agriculture.
