HCC-Led JV Bags ₹578 Crore Tunnel Contract from Northeast Frontier Railway.

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) recently announced that its joint venture with VCCL has won a ₹577.89 crore contract from the Northeast Frontier Railway. In the HCC–VCCL consortium, HCC holds a 65% stake.

The contract involves completing the construction of four tunnels on the Dimapur–Kohima new broad gauge line: Tunnel No. 9 (600 m), Tunnel No. 11 (350 m), Tunnel No. 13 (400 m), and Tunnel No. 16 (600 m). The work will also include cut-and-cover sections, as well as earthworks for embankments and cuttings to form the railway alignment. Ancillary and protection works between Piphema and Zubza are part of the project scope.

The Dimapur–Kohima line is a key initiative under Indian Railways’ programme to enhance connectivity in the Northeast, aiming to improve access to hilly and remote areas in Nagaland and surrounding regions.

The contract comes as HCC reported a consolidated net profit of ₹8.07 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, a turnaround from a net loss of ₹38.92 crore during the same period last year.
