HD Hyundai, Tamil Nadu Government Discuss Shipyard Project in Thoothukudi.

A high-level business delegation led by Young Hoon Kwon, Director of the Global Business Division of HD Hyundai (HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering – HD KSOE), on Wednesday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at his office.

According to a statement from the State Industries Department, the meeting focused on reviewing the implementation status of a major shipbuilding project proposed in Thoothukudi.

During the discussions, the Chief Minister assured the delegation that the state government would take all necessary steps to ensure the swift execution of the project. He also pledged full administrative support and coordinated assistance to facilitate its implementation.

In response, representatives of HD Hyundai stated that the company would make every effort to begin shipbuilding operations at the earliest, signalling progress toward establishing the project in Tamil Nadu.

Officials said the proposed investment is expected to strengthen the state’s maritime manufacturing ecosystem and boost industrial activity in the southern region.
