Hero MotoCorp Establishes Assembly Plant in Nepal, Targeting Production of 75,000 Units Annually
Hero MotoCorp, the country's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, announced on Monday the appointment of Chaudhary Group (CG) Motors as its distributor in Nepal. The company revealed plans to establish a cutting-edge greenfield facility for assembling products in Nepal, boasting a capacity of 75,000 units per year. Operations are scheduled to commence in March 2024, bringing new investments and job opportunities. The facility will be situated in the Nawalpur district, according to a statement released by the company.
Having entered the Nepalese market in 2014, Hero MotoCorp has solidified its position as a leading player with iconic brands such as the Super Splendor and Xpulse 200 motorcycles. Nepal holds significant importance as one of the key markets for the company in Asia.
Chaudhary Group, a prominent entity in Nepal's business landscape, oversees a network of over 160 companies and 123 brands globally. The group's diverse operations encompass the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, financial services, energy and infrastructure development, the hospitality sector, and the electronics sector. The collaboration with CG Motors is expected to significantly boost Hero MotoCorp's operations in Nepal.
Sanjay Bhan, Head of Global Business at Hero MotoCorp, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, "With their vast expertise and diversified business knowledge, Chaudhary Group will provide an enormous fillip to our operations here. Nepal is an extremely important market for us, and it is our continuous endeavor to provide the best products, services, and experiences to our customers here. In the near future, we plan to further strengthen our operations across the country and introduce a slew of new products that will excite the market."
Hero MotoCorp's product range in Nepal includes a comprehensive portfolio of two-wheelers, from entry-level to premium, encompassing Xpulse Twins, Xtreme range, Splendor range, Glamour, and HF Deluxe motorcycles. Additionally, the company offers a variety of scooters, including the Destini 125, Maestro Edge, and Pleasure+.
Highlighting the company's global initiatives, Bhan mentioned that Hero MotoCorp's emerging mobility brand, Vida (electric), is expanding its presence outside India. The electric scooter, Vida V1, is set to launch in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, further contributing to the company's growth on the international stage.
