"HFCL Enhances BSNL Broadband Network with Major Upgrade"

HFCL Limited has successfully completed one of the world’s largest deployments of a Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) architecture-based Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The project, valued at approximately ₹390 crore, began in October 2022.

The upgraded infrastructure is designed to enhance BSNL’s network efficiency, enabling improved high-speed data services for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and enterprise applications, according to an official company statement. This upgrade not only increases the network's capacity and reliability but also supports the 1.5 lakh gram panchayats currently part of the BharatNet project.

HFCL’s comprehensive role in the project encompassed the design, supply, commissioning, testing, and migration of legacy networks. The new BNG will function as the internet gateway for all BSNL enterprise and home users, as well as for both the current and expanded BharatNet network.

This nationwide deployment is expected to significantly enhance BSNL’s capability to serve high-end enterprise customers and contribute to bridging the digital divide in rural and remote regions.
