Hitachi Energy, the Switzerland-based subsidiary of the Hitachi Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government's Department of Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce to expand its operations in the state.

Under the agreement, the company will invest ₹1,000 crore to expand its Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Chennai and its manufacturing facility in Chengalpattu.
