"Honda Motorcycle Unveils Third Assembly Line at Gujarat Plant"

In a move to enhance its manufacturing capabilities, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially inaugurated a third assembly line at its two-wheeler plant located in Vithalapur, Gujarat. This expansion is set to increase the plant's capacity by 6.5 lakh units.

The Vithalapur facility is responsible for producing Honda's best-selling two-wheeler, Activa, along with other popular scooter models like Dio, Activa 125, and Dio 125. Additionally, the plant houses a dedicated engine line that serves as a foundation for manufacturing global engines for the 250cc & above category of two-wheelers, meeting the demands of international markets such as Thailand, the US, Europe, and Japan, according to an official release from the company.

Highlighting the significance of India as a crucial production base for Honda's global two-wheeler manufacturing capacity, the company emphasized the country's role in meeting global demands. Mr. Tsutsumu Otani, President, Managing Director, and CEO of HMSI, commented on the occasion, stating, "Today marks a significant milestone as we have inaugurated a new, third assembly line at our Vithalapur facility in Gujarat. To serve customers more efficiently with speed, undertaking this capacity expansion plan will increase HMSI’s total annual production volumes significantly."

He further explained that HMSI's Gujarat plant plays a crucial role in producing scooter models for both domestic and export markets, contributing to the company's leadership in promoting the trend of scooterization not only in India but also on a global scale. The expansion aligns with HMSI's commitment to meeting the growing demand for its popular two-wheelers and strengthening its position in the competitive market.
