Hospitality players line up for projects in Amaravati.
A number of players in the hospitality sector have evinced interest to be part of the development of the greenfield capital city of Amaravati coming up on the banks of the Krishna river.
At a conference on hotel and tourism projects, 31 developers agreed to respond to the ‘Expressions of Interest’ to be invited for hotels and convention centres by the State government within two weeks.
The state government is keen to attract skilled migrants, industries, business professionals and tourists to Amaravati.
The conference, chaired by Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary Industries, detailed the potential for development of the hospitality sector. Jain promised them all necessary support, including a single-window system for clearances. Sreedhar Cherukuri of Capital Region Development Authority said Amaravati is projected to have a population of over 4 lakh within three years and a number of opportunities are likely to open up for infrastructure creation.
Three models of partnership were discussed, which included freehold land, long-term lease and revenue sharing.
Subhaash Gulaati group, which has two hotels in the UK, expressed the desire to set up an integrated property with a shopping mall, office space and a 5-star hotel in Amaravati with an investment of over ₹300 crore.
Malaxmi Property Ventures have signed a letter of understanding with the Hilton Hotels for a 5-star hotel and a convention centre in Amaravati.
ITC Hotels expressed interest in a 4-star hotel in the initial phase. Fortune Murali Park is looking to set up a 200-room hotel and preferred freehold land model.
