Hotel President to invest Rs 600-mn towards expansion

Chennai: The Chennai-based Hotel President Group is investing Rs 60 crore for upgradation and modernisation of its various hotels in the city.

While Hotel President would be upgraded to five-star from four-star, Premier Chennai would be made a four-star hotel, said Aboo Bucker, president of the group.

All the 150 rooms of President were being modernised apart from adding more restaurants and a 400-seat capacity conference hall.

The renovation of Premier Chennai would involve an investment of Rs 12 crore.

Besides, the group is constructing a three-star hotel at Kumbakonam in the heart of the city at an outlay of Rs 31 crore.

Called Temple City, the project is expected to be completed before the end of this fiscal.

Bucker said the company was also scouting for suitable sites at Trichy, Madurai and Coimbatore.
