Hunter Douglas bags Rs. 60 cr Delhi airport order

Hyderabad: The Indian arm of Dutch firm Hunter Douglas has announced that it has bagged a Rs 60-crore order from the Delhi international airport and is in talks with several other airport developers in the country for its products.

This is a major win for the company and a follow-up on similar projects it supported including the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad and the Bangalore international airport.

The company is in the process of finalising plans to step this number up to 25 galleries by this year-end.

The $3.2-billion (2007) Rotterdam-based manufacturer of window coverings and architectural products has two manufacturing and assembly units in India at Silvassa and Chennai and is focusing on offering customised solutions for both corporate entities and individual buyers.

Large public places, such as airports, look at investments from a long-term perspective and ease of maintenance. These include blinds and roller shades and architectural products, including metal ceilings, claddings and sun shade products.

While traditionally, corporate customers are big consumers of the company products, which is mainly through interior design consultants and architects, lately, individual home owners in the high income and upper middle income are also adopting these products. Therefore, the company focus is on addressing home buyers with customised solutions, he said.

The company has partnered with Harmony Interiors in Hyderabad for its 17th gallery in the country.
