IBM launches Big Green project in India
Bangalore: IBM launches the second phase of its Project Big Green (PBG 2.0) in India. It has introduced new products and services that will help enterprises build ‘greener’ technology infrastructures. See Blue, Think Green — This is IBM’s latest tagline for its ‘green’ initiatives.
Project Big Green, launched last year, saw the introduction of IBM’s Scalable Modular Data Centre (SMDC) in the Indian market. With PBG 2.0, the company is introducing modular, energy-efficient data centre designs that can reduce energy consumption by about 50 per cent.
IBM has built and managed nearly 3 lakh sq ft of data centre in India, and 25 per cent of all SMDCs globally are deployed in India, said Mr Nipun Mehrotra, Vice-President and General Manager – Global Technology Services, IBM India/South Asia.
The new offerings include the Portable Modular Data Centre (PMDC), Enterprise Modular Data Centre (EMDC) and High Density Zone (HDZ).
