ICF to Supply Metro Coaches Under ₹1,513-Crore Bengaluru Suburban Rail Order.

The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project received a major boost as Bangalore Rail Infrastructure Development Enterprise announced that it has officially issued a work order to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai.

The order covers the supply of 153 air-conditioned, broad-gauge, metro-type coaches for Corridor-2 and Corridor-4 of the suburban rail network. The total value of the contract is ₹1,513.75 crore, officials said.

Designed to transform urban mobility in the city, the Bengaluru Suburban Rail project aims to reduce traffic congestion and provide a reliable, high-capacity public transport alternative for commuters across Bengaluru and its surrounding regions.

Officials added that the induction of modern metro-style coaches is expected to significantly improve passenger comfort and operational efficiency, positioning the system as a sustainable transport backbone for the region in the coming years.
