Infineon Technologies to Establish Global Capability Centre at GIFT City, Gujarat.
Germany-based semiconductor giant Infineon Technologies has announced the establishment of a Global Capability Centre (GCC) at GIFT City, Gujarat, marking the state’s first such facility. The centre will employ 400 engineers and strengthen the company’s global R&D and digital initiatives.
The announcement was made on Monday at an inaugural event attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Infineon Technologies CEO Jochen Hanebeck. The centre will focus on semiconductor chip design, product software, IT, supply chain management, and systems engineering.
“This centre, with 400 highly talented engineers, will drive cutting-edge semiconductor solutions shaping the future of mobility, energy efficiency, and security,” said Vinay Shenoy, MD, Infineon Technologies India. He highlighted Ahmedabad’s emergence as a tech hub, with strong government support and infrastructure making it a prime location for semiconductor growth.
Infineon’s new GCC in Gujarat is its second in India, joining operations in Bengaluru, Noida, Pune, and Vadodara. Hanebeck emphasized India’s strategic importance to the company, revealing plans to achieve €1 billion in annual revenue from the Indian market by 2030.
The launch follows Gujarat’s Global Capability Centre policy, unveiled on February 11, 2025, which aims to attract ₹10,000 crore in investments, set up 250 GCCs, and create 50,000 jobs.
