IT parks in tier-II cities soon: KTR.

Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao has said taking the IT sector to tier-II cities was on the agenda and the Government was ready to allocate land for IT entrepreneurs in those cities. The Government would ensure special security measures for women employees including setting up of separate women police stations, he said.

The Minister, who was replying to a question on the promotion of technology innovations in Assembly on Thursday, revealed that IT parks had been set up in Warangal, Nizamabad and Khammam and requests from Nalgonda, Miryalaguda and Mahabubnagar were being considered. The Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge (TASK) Centre would be set up at Khammam apart from a second facility for IT companies.

Mr. Rama Rao also said that Hyderabad would host the prestigious World IT Congress next year and a T-Fund would be set up to generate funds for the event being held in Asia for the first time.

He said that IT growth in Telangana was about 13.85% as against the national average of 10%. The T-Hub-2, which would be the largest start-up incubator in was likely to be ready by next year. The Government would achieve its target of increasing IT exports to ₹1.20 lakh crore by 2019 from ₹85,000 crores this year. The State IT Department was also sharing its expertise with States like Goa, Tripura and Assam and MoUs were signed in this regard.
