ITC Chairman Sanjiv Puri Unveils ₹20,000 Crore Medium-Term Investment Plan, Hints at ITC Infotech Strategic Evaluation.
Diversified Indian conglomerate ITC Ltd. is forging ahead with ambitious plans to invest ₹20,000 crore across its diverse business segments in the medium term. This significant capital allocation aims to build a "portfolio for the tomorrow," as stated by Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Puri at the company's 114th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Friday.
During the AGM, Puri also addressed shareholder queries regarding the future of ITC Infotech, the company's wholly-owned global technology services and solutions provider. While refraining from outlining immediate plans, Puri confirmed that ITC would "evaluate strategic options" for the IT subsidiary, including potential demerger or restructuring, at the "right time."
Puri encouraged shareholders to acknowledge ITC Infotech's recent performance, highlighting its consistent progress and deepening capabilities. He further explained that the subsidiary structure within ITC Infotech aligns with common practices in the IT industry, facilitating operations across its presence in over 40 countries.
This strategic investment underscores ITC's commitment to sustained growth and diversification beyond its traditional core businesses, while the potential review of ITC Infotech's structure suggests a move to unlock further value from its technology arm.
