IWG Targets 500 India Centres in 5 Years, Focus on Tier 2 & 3 Cities.

IWG, the UK-based co-working giant that established its presence in India in 2004, is setting an aggressive expansion target, aiming to reach 500 centres across the country within the next three to five years. Currently operating 105 centres in 28 Indian cities, the company has identified tier-2 and tier-3 cities as crucial drivers for this projected growth.

According to Marc Descrozaille, IWG's CEO for the Middle East, APAC, and Africa, the company plans a significant increase in its geographical footprint within the year. "We plan to be present in about 50 cities by the end of this year, and we’re actively expanding into tier-2 and -3 cities," stated Descrozaille.

Descrozaille emphasized that the current economic climate in India presents an opportune moment for this expansion. "There is a lot of appetite for entrepreneurial ventures and various types of businesses looking to set up or expand," he noted. This, coupled with the lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on traditional office working models, creates a favorable environment for IWG's flexible workspace solutions. "At the same time, COVID has permanently changed how people approach working from offices, all of this plays in our favour," he added.

IWG's strategic pivot towards smaller cities reflects the growing demand for flexible and co-working spaces beyond the major metropolitan areas, aligning with the company's goal to cater to a wider range of businesses and professionals across India.
