Japan’s Tsugami Opens New Assembly Plant and Foundry in Chennai.

Japanese machine tool manufacturer Tsugami, with global revenues of $700 million, on Thursday inaugurated its new precision engineering assembly and foundry facility in the automotive hub of Oragadam, near Chennai.

The company has invested ₹300 crore in the plant, which will produce specialised high-precision CNC machine tools used in sectors requiring extreme accuracy and efficiency, including mobile phones, automotive, aerospace, and medical devices. Tsugami is a key supplier to contract manufacturers for brands such as Apple and Samsung.

The new Chennai unit is Tsugami’s third full-fledged global facility, complementing its existing plants in Japan and China.
