JSW Steel gets increase in production

Mumbai: JSW Steel reported an 8.5 per cent growth in crude steel production at 3.31 lakh tonnes in February, compared to 3.05 lakh tonnes logged during the corresponding month in the last fiscal.

This includes the trial production of 18,262 tonnes from the recently commissioned blast furnace during the month. Rolled products-flat saw a 3.91 per cent growth at 2.57 lakh tonnes (2.48 lakh tonnes) and long products 66.4 per cent at 0.43 lakh tonnes ( 0.26 lakh tonnes). The company ha s also shown a sequential growth of three per cent in crude steel production over January 2009.

JSW Steel commissioned the expansion project at Vijayanagar works this February, raising its capacity from 3.8 million tonnes per anum (mtpa) to 6.8 mtpa.
