JSW Steel to Invest ₹60,000 Crore in Green Steel Plant in Maharashtra.

JSW Steel to Invest ₹60,000 Crore in Green Steel Plant in Maharashtra.

JSW Steel is set to invest ₹50,000–60,000 crore to establish a 10 million tonnes per annum green steel plant at Salav in Maharashtra. The upcoming facility will primarily serve the European market, as the region prepares to implement the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), aimed at curbing carbon-intensive imports.

Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of the JSW Group, said the investment will be made over the next three to four years. “The Salav plant will cater to the European Union markets, aligning with global sustainability goals,” he said.

Initially, the plant will operate using natural gas and will transition to hydrogen as the technology becomes more commercially viable, Jindal added.
