JSW to open industrial paints unit in Maharashtra.

JSW Group is planning to foray into industrial paints. The project is likely to come up at the group’s Dolvi site at Maharashtra.

According to group Chairman, Sajjan Jindal, the foray is a natural expansion as the group has “huge internal demand” for paints in the form of steel coatings.

Finer details of the project are yet to be firmed up.

The group is also planning to have a separate brand for the segment.

“The paint foray will be by the group and not by JSW Steel,” Sajjan told newspersons on Wednesday. The cement division and other new initiatives of JSW will be handled by Sajjan’s son, Parth.

The group will pump another ₹2,000 crore for brownfield expansion of the group’s cement capacities from six million tonnes to 16 million tonnes in the next two years.

“We have already placed order for eight grinding units, each having a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes. Location for six of these have been finalised,” Sajjan said.
