Junction Improvement Work Underway on Alagar Kovil Road.

The State Highways (SH) Department has initiated junction improvement work, including road widening, at Lotus Tank Junction and Fortune Pandiyan Hotel Junction on Alagar Kovil Main Road. The ₹1.4 crore project aims to decongest traffic at these busy intersections.

The improvements, which include introducing roundabouts and expanding the existing 60-foot-wide road to 70-80 feet, are expected to be completed within three to four months. However, land acquisition issues have delayed similar plans at Arasaradi Junction.

While some commuters support the upgrades, others argue that replacing traffic signals with roundabouts alone would be sufficient to ease congestion without widening the road.
