Jupiter Wagons Secures ₹400-Crore Energy Storage Projects in West Bengal.

Jupiter Wagons Ltd (JWL) has secured two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects worth around ₹400 crore from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (WBSEDCL).

The projects, with a combined capacity of 100 MW/400 MWh, will be developed at Jeerat and Kharagpur in West Bengal. The contracts were awarded through e-reverse auctions under the tariff-based competitive bidding process, JWL said in a statement.

JWL’s subsidiary, JEM Energy, will execute and operate the projects under a 15-year build-own-operate (BOO) model.

The projects will strengthen JWL’s presence in the energy-storage segment as demand for battery-based storage solutions grows alongside the expansion of renewable-energy capacity and the need for grid flexibility.
