"Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the Third Rail Traction system contract for Kochi Metro Phase 2."
Kochi Metro Rail Corporation (KMRL) has declared Kalpataru Projects International Ltd as the lowest bidder for the contract to design, supply, install, test and commission the third rail traction electrification system for Phase 2 of the Kochi Metro project.
The contract, which carries a completion period of 730 days, covers the 750 V DC third rail traction system, auxiliary sub-stations (ASS) and associated SCADA systems for Phase 2 of the project.KMRL had invited bids for the work with technical bids opened on October 31, 2025, receiving submissions from three firms. Technical evaluation was completed on January 27, 2026, following which financial bids were opened. Kalpataru Projects International emerged as the lowest bidder with a quote of ₹451.6 crore, compared with ₹457.5 crore quoted by Siemens Ltd and ₹477 crore by Sterling & Wilson Pvt Ltd.
Phase 2 of the Kochi Metro, which is currently under construction, comprises a single corridor—the Pink Line-spanning 11.2 km from JLN Stadium to Infopark and covering 11 stations.
