Kalyani Steels mulling new manufacturing unit in West Asia.

Kalyani Steels, part of the $2.5 billion Kalyani Group, is evaluating options to set up a steel manufacturing unit in West Asia where it can get cheap energy and land at the port, Managing Director R K Goyal told Business Standard.

'The plant can be anywhere, we are evaluating several countries. It can be in Saudi Arabia, Oman, it can be even in Iran if the political situation improves there. Our plan is currently at the study level,' he said.

Pune-based Kalyani Steels is a leading manufacturer of forging and engineering quality carbon and alloy steels using the blast furnace route.
