Kavveri Telecom develops new products
Hyderabad: Kavveri Telecom Products Ltd, the Bangalore-based antennae and RF products manufacturer for the wireless industry, is working on 3G, WiMAX and UWB (ultra wide band) products.
UWB refers to a radio technology with short range cover but with high bandwidth.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr C. Shivakumar Reddy, Managing Director, said the products were under various stages of development. “We spend 11 per cent of our turnover on research and development,” he said.
During 2006-07, it registered a turnover of Rs 50 crore with a net profit Rs 6 crore. With a strong order book, the company hopes to cross the Rs 100-crore mark this financial year.
New unit
The new contract manufacturing facility at Jigani (Karnataka), being set up at a cost of Rs 15 crore, would help the company enhance its capacities.
The company is expected to achieve full capacity utilisation by 2010, helping it to cross the Rs 300-crore mark.
Kavveri, the exclusive supplier of antennae to WorldSpace, has developed a technology that would enable subscribers to listen to radio programmes while driving. It, however, needs regulatory permissions to introduce it in the sets. Subscribers use this technology in Dubai and Bahrain.
