Kerala Gets Centre’s Nod for ₹2,039 Crore Development Projects.

The Centre has approved infrastructure projects worth ₹2,039 crore for Kerala following a meeting between state Public Works Department (PWD) Minister P K Basheer and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.

Sharing details of the approvals in a Facebook post, Basheer said the sanctioned projects include the construction of a bridge across the Kabani River, connecting Perikkallur in Wayanad district with Bairakuppe in Karnataka, at an estimated cost of ₹49 crore.

The Centre has also cleared ₹98.40 crore for works on National Highway 744, ₹172 crore for the National Highway 966 stretch from Ramanattukara to Chandranagar in Palakkad, and ₹66 crore for the old National Highway 66 section between Kazhakkoottam and Balaramapuram, the minister said.

A major approval includes ₹1,663 crore for the four-laning of the Kadavoor-Aanjilimoodu section of the Kollam-Theni National Highway.

Basheer said Gadkari also provided in-principle approval for ropeway projects at Sabarimala, Munnar and Wayanad. The Union minister further indicated that approval for widening National Highway 185 from Adimali to Kumily would be granted soon.

The minister added that revised alignments for the proposed Kothamangalam and Muvattupuzha bypass projects are expected to receive early clearance. Gadkari has also directed National Highways Authority officials to prepare and submit the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed elevated highway connecting Ramanattukara and Kozhikode airport.
