Kiran Kumar Reddy: MRF unit in Medak among many projects coming up in AP.

Leading tyre manufacturer MRF Ltd. is all set to invest about Rs. 900 crore in a new manufacturing plant adjacent to its existing facility in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh.

This will enable the company, which has secured a nod from the Andhra Pradesh Industries Department and the State Investment Promotion Board, to significantly increase its manufacturing capability in the country.

Speaking at a meeting after the inauguration of Berger Paints' facility, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, State Chief Minister, said this was one of the several projects underway in the State.

The tyre manufacturer, which has a market share of over 30 per cent, has two manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh - one at Sadasivpet established in the 1990's and another one at Ankapally in 2011.

The proposed plant will come up close to its existing unit in Sadasivpet, where it manufactures tyres for automotives and aviation sector requirements.
