KUFOS to set upincubation centre.
Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) is setting up business incubation centre and startup villages in collaboration with industrial bodies to encourage entrepreneurial initiatives among students, Vice-Chancellor B Madhusoodana Kurup has said.
The proposed centre will focus on development of value-added products, aquaculture projects and consultancy services in the initial stage.The centre will serve as a single-window for disseminating relevant information, technological support and training to the stakeholders.
The existing facilities of the university and its regional centres will be upgraded to serve in establishing startup villages for effective implementation of viable projects. It is estimated that an investment of Rs. 3 crore will be required to develop the infrastructure and allied facilities for the centre, he added.
Besides, the Academic Council also decided to start massive online open courses in all departments to increase the enrolment ratio of fisheries and ocean studies education. Software developed by the Ministry of Human Resources will be used for developing the online teaching facility.
