Kumaranalloor Overbridge to be Inaugurated Soon.

The long-awaited Kumaranalloor Railway overbridge is on its way to be opened for the public as the last round of work is fast progressing, according to reports recently. The approach road from MC Road is on the finishing stage for which the tarring work would start soon.

According to reports, the level crossing on MC Road was a harassment for the public and the locals as traffic blocks were a daily affair on both sides of the gate, and therefore, the public had been demanding for the overbridge for the last few years. The project was included in the last four consecutive budgets, yet it had not been taking off as land acquisition was not making the required progress. However, in two years it was started, much begun progress has been made, the reports said. The project has been built on a total cost of Rs. 14 crore. The 34-metre-long bridge has footpaths on both sides. The cost for the bridge alone has been estimated to the tune of Rs. 3.15 crore. The Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala had undertaken the project. The funds were allotted by both the state government and the Railways.

The construction of the portion above the railway track has been done by the Railways.Despite interruptions, the work is fast progressing. The painting work and replacement of electric posts are on its way. According to the PWD authorities, the bridge will be opened in two months’ time, the reports said.
