Land for proposed flyash park identified.

The proposed Flyash Park, conceptualised for promoting flyash-based product manufacturing units for increasing its utilisation at Angul-Talcher area, has started taking shape with the Angul district administration identifying two patches of land of 90 acres.

Angul-Talcher area is major producer of flyash -- coal burning residue which adversely impacts the environment.

A number of thermal power plants are located in the area and around 12 million tonne per annum (mtpa) flyash is generated out of total 28 mtpa produced in the State. Flyash remains one of the major environmental concerns for the State government.

The Park is expected to promote flyash-based construction materials and generate sustainable enterprise and employment opportunities.

The Park will help develop common facility centre with research and development and training facilities. Flyash will be stored at the Park after its mass procurement which will reduce related environmental problem in the area.

A project proposal on the proposed Park was prepared by the Flyash Resource Centre (PARC), Odisha State Pollution Control Board in consultation with the stakeholders. Ministry of Micro Small Medium Enterprise has provided Rs.15 crore for the facility.
