Lesco to install new transformers to overcome power shedding
Lahore: Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) will install new transformers and other power equipment in a bid to overcome power load shedding in various areas. The sources in the Lesco said.
He further said that many electricity consumers have enhanced consumption without authorisation, which leads to enhance the load over the system and its difficult for management to deal with the problem.
He said that Lesco was trying its level best to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers, but the load has increased up to 25 percent, whereas the standard annual growth in load was 8 percent as per national statistics.
A new imported transformer costing more than one billion rupees having 600 MVA capacity will be installed at 500 KV grid station at Sheikhupra in November this year, which will significantly ease the load management issue.
Moreover, he said that three transformers at 220 KV grid station Kot Lakhpat will be replaced and augmented up to 750 MVA from 480 MVA capacity, adding that work on the installation of the new imported transformers will be completed by March 2009.
