Loni Road to be widened.

Transport Minister Gopal Rai recently directed the Transport Department and the Public Works Departments to undertake widening of Loni Road in northeast Delhi where this month’s car-free day is scheduled to be observed.

Mr. Rai gave directions after a meeting with officials from both the departments at Delhi Secretariat here. The fifth instalment of the car-free day in Delhi will be held on the stretch on March 22.

The Delhi government said in a statement, residents and shopkeepers on either side of the stretch would need to produce documentation of ownership to the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Yamuna Vihar or Shahdara by March 31 to retain ownership.

Action against encroachment would be taken between May 15 and May 26.
