L&T bags CIAL new terminal contract.

L&T, Chennai has bagged the contract for the construction of 15 lakh sq. ft. new international terminal complex at Cochin International Airport Ltd.

The CIAL board has approved the tender for a total project cost of Rs. 284.14 crore, which is 11.24 per cent above the estimate of Rs. 255 crore.

Tender for the construction of the new terminal was invited by CIAL in the first week of November 2013 and four companies participated in the tender.

For cost-effectiveness of the entire expansion project, as was done in the past, CIAL is not resorting to turnkey contracts now also.

The company is planning to invite tenders for balance works such as flooring, false ceiling, electrical works, air-conditioning, fire fighting etc. as separate packages simultaneously during the progress of the project.
