Maharashtra Government Inks MOUs with Seven Companies for Green Hydrogen Production
Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, marked a significant milestone by signing Green Hydrogen Policy Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with seven companies, making Maharashtra the pioneering state to actively promote green hydrogen. This strategic move, supported by an investment of Rs. 2.76 lakh crore, underscores Maharashtra's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
Highlighting the historic achievement, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated, "Green Hydrogen Policy MoUs have been signed with seven companies. This is a big achievement. Ours is the first state to promote Green Hydrogen. In this, investment worth Rs. 2.76 lakh crore is being made. Seven big companies are working on it. It is a flexible and liberal policy, creating employment opportunities for 60,000-70,000 individuals."
Emphasizing that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, the Chief Minister applauded the commitment and participation of key stakeholders. He revealed that significant investments, including MOUs with ArcelorMittal and Nippon, were inked during this landmark event, amounting to an impressive Rs. 40,000 crores. This substantial investment is expected to generate over 20,000 jobs, further reinforcing Maharashtra's status as an industrial-friendly state.
Eknath Shinde highlighted the state's enormous potential, including infrastructure connectivity, a skilled workforce, available land, and investor-friendly policies. He expressed confidence that Maharashtra is emerging as the preferred destination for industries, backed by the support of PM Modi. The state government is dedicated to providing a conducive environment, including single-window clearance and subsidies, to attract and facilitate investments.
The signing of Green Hydrogen Policy MoUs signifies Maharashtra's commitment to sustainable and innovative energy solutions, setting the stage for transformative developments in the green hydrogen sector and positioning the state as a leader in this crucial domain.
