Maharashtra Government to Develop 3,500 Smart Villages by 2030.

In a significant move toward its "Viksit Maharashtra 2047" and trillion-dollar economy goals, the state government has announced a plan to develop at least ten "Smart and Intelligent Villages" in every taluka.

The first phase of this initiative will see the transformation of nearly 3,500 villages across the state.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the launch of the Satanwari Smart and Intelligent Village in Nagpur district on Sunday. The Satanwari project, a collaboration between the Government of Maharashtra, Nagpur District Administration, and Voice of Indian Communication Technology Enterprises (VOICE), has become a model for the state.

"Advanced technology-based services in agriculture, health, education, and other essential sectors have been made available at Satanwari village," Fadnavis said. "This has created a model of a prosperous village."

The initiative aims to provide villagers with access to 18 essential services through technology, building on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BharatNet and the state's MahaNet projects. These services will include:

Fadnavis noted that farmers in Satanwari are already using drones and sensors for soil testing and fertilizer management, which has reduced costs and improved productivity. He also highlighted that artificial intelligence in primary education will help expose students to global knowledge.

"Satanwari will soon become a role model village for the entire country," he added.
