Maharashtra Inks ₹30,000-cr MoU with Lodha for New Data Centre Park
The Maharashtra government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lodha Developers to establish a new data centre park in Palava. This comes a year after the state approved the Green Integrated Data Centre Parks initiative for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The government is anticipating a total investment of ₹30,000 crore for the project, which is expected to create 6,000 direct and indirect jobs. The data centre park, spanning 370 acres, is designed to host multiple international and domestic data centre operators with a planned capacity of 2 gigawatts.
This project is part of a larger plan to set up three such parks in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The move aligns with the state's 2019 declaration of Integrated Data Centres as a 'Thrust Area' for industrial growth, reflecting the growing demand driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital services.
