Maruti Suzuki Boosts Manesar Plant Capacity by One Lakh Units Annually

Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) has announced the expansion of its production capacity at the Manesar plant in Haryana by one lakh units per annum. With the addition of this new assembly line, the total manufacturing capability at the Manesar facility now stands at nine lakh vehicles annually.

The company revealed in a statement that the new assembly line has been integrated into the existing Plant-A among the three manufacturing facilities at Manesar. This expansion marks a significant milestone for MSIL, with the Manesar facility contributing over 95 lakh units towards the company's three-crore production milestone. Various vehicles including Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Wagon R, Dzire, S-Presso, Ciaz, and Celerio are manufactured at this facility.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MSIL, expressed the company's ambition to nearly double its capacity to four million vehicles per annum within the next seven to eight years. He emphasized that this capacity addition of one lakh vehicles per year is a crucial step towards achieving this goal. Takeuchi highlighted that this enhancement in capacity will facilitate faster service to customers and elevate the overall manufacturing capability to up to 23.5 lakh units per annum.

Furthermore, Takeuchi mentioned that the new assembly line incorporates cutting-edge technologies aimed at improving human ergonomics, enhancing productivity, and augmenting traceability within the manufacturing process.

The Manesar facility, inaugurated in February 2007 with the commencement of Plant A, has witnessed successive expansions in response to escalating customer demand. Plant-B was added in 2011 followed by Plant-C in 2013, underscoring MSIL's commitment to catering to the evolving needs of the market.
