Maruti Suzuki Commissions New Kharkhoda Facility with Annual Capacity of 2.5 Lakh Vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) recently said it has commenced commercial production at the second plant of its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana, adding another 2.5 lakh units of annual production capacity as the country’s largest carmaker accelerates expansion to meet rising demand.
With the commissioning of the second unit, the total production capacity at the Kharkhoda facility has increased to five lakh vehicles per annum, the company said in a statement.
“This second plant has an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units, taking the total capacity at Kharkhoda to five-lakh units. Maruti Suzuki’s overall annual production capacity across its facilities in Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, and Hansalpur in Gujarat is now 26.5 lakh units,” MSIL said.
The Kharkhoda plant is a key part of Maruti Suzuki’s long-term manufacturing strategy and, once fully operational, is expected to become one of Suzuki’s largest four-wheeler manufacturing hubs globally with a planned capacity of one million vehicles annually.
The expansion comes as Maruti Suzuki continues to strengthen its domestic production network amid growing demand in the passenger vehicle market and increasing export opportunities.
