The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has finalised the designs of the metro stations, which are likely to be unveiled soon by the Chief Minister at a function that will be held in Kochi.
The date of unveiling the designs of the stations will be finalised by the Chief Minister, said the Kochi Metro Rail officials.
The structural designing of the stations, which will be uniform, are being done by Egis India Consulting, the primary design consultants of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), while the thematic style and the mould of the stations will be based on the plan submitted by Indian Institute of Architects (IIA).
The designs of eight stations have been finalised. The exterior of the stations will wear a unique look and will have a simple tone.
'Meanwhile, the interior will represent the Kerala culture and will be rich in local cultural references,' said Kochi Metro Rail Limited managing director Elias George.
For instance, the chairs at the Metro Rail Station at Changampuzha will be designed in the shape of a book in reference to the area's connection with Malayalam literature and one of its great poets, Changampuzha Krishna Pillai.
The Kochi Metro Rail Limited is also planning to implement a proper station development plan.
